Two Hundred men were tested for low testosterone and Vitamin D levels, with one group given a placebo and the other group given Vitamin D supplementation. Compared to baseline values, a significant increase in total testosterone levels, and free testosterone levels were observed in the vitamin D supplemented group. By contrast, there was no significant change in any testosterone measure in the placebo group.

Numerous Studies show a direct correlation between Vitamin D deficiency and Low Total Testosterone levels, Low Free-Testosterone levels, elevated SHBG, Chronic Fatigue, poor Sleep, Anxiety and Depression.

Vitamin D3 (which is actually a hormone, not a vitamin), comes naturally from sunshine. But due to the increase in skin cancer (wearing sunscreen), working longer hours, taking less vacations, and our generation simply not getting outside to "play" anymore, we are getting less of the Sun; therefore less Vitamin D.

Many studies show a direct coorelation between Vitamin D and testosterone.

A group of Scientists in Germany gave 54 men either a placebo or 3,333 IU's of  vitamin D per day for 1 year. All men were Vitamin D deficient to being the study.

After 1 year, the men who took vitamin D showed an increase of 86 nmol/L (34.5 ng/mL), and also had a significant increase in mean testosterone levels as well:

  • Total testosterone increased from 10.7 to 13.4 nmol/L and an increase in Bioactive testosterone from 5.21 to 6.25 nmol/L

  • Free testosterone increased  from 0.222 nmol/L to 0.267 nmol/L

The men who took placebo didn’t show any significant changes in testosterone or vitamin D. Based on these findings, the authors concluded that vitamin D supplements might increase levels of testosterone.

Numerous studies also show a direct correlation between depression and Vitamin D deficiency.
